WEATHER EXTREME OVER U.S.

NEW YORK, Wednesday (A.AP.-Reuter). — The Eastern U.S. experienced its seventh consecutive day of a marathon heat wave yesterday, but relief came to the Midwest.

In New York, 1,500 sub-urban travellers were trapped for three hours under the Hudson River in four steaming hot trains that broke down during the

heat wave.

The Midwest had been

resigned to another day of heat, but a cold front pushed out of the west and held temperatures in the

80's.

Some parts of the west, could have used a little of the heat wave. Road crews opened two northern Wyo-ming roads which had been closed by snow and heavy rain.

At Fraser, Colorado, it was 25 degrees.

Floods continued in the northern Midwest and Great Plains.

In the combination of torrential rain and blazing heat, deaths caused by the weather rose to the 110 mark.

At least 103 persons were drowned trying to beat the heat and flood waters killed 27.

There were seven deaths by lightning and two from heat prostration.
