PORT AUGUSTA CRIMINAL SITTINGS.

The Circuit Court was continued to-day, His Honor Mr. Justice Bundey presiding. John Magrath was charged with stealing a saddle, the property of Thomas Hall. Mr. Webb appeared for the prisoner who, he said, was suffering from a weak intellect. Cases of a similar nature had previously been charged against him, and on his behalf he pleaded guilty, asking his honor to consider the cir

cumstances and pass a lenient sentance. Sen tenced to three years' hard labor. Arthur Hutchinson, George Bishop, and Thos. Bennett, charged with cattle stealing at Auralina Macumba station, pleaded not guilty. Mr. Smith appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. Farr for the prisoners. Several witnesses were examined, including three aboriginal native women. Bennett was discharged, there being no evidence against him. The jury retired, but returned stating that they could not agree. His honor again addressed them, and after a short retirement brought in a verdict of guilty against both prisoners, who were each sentenced to two vears' hard labor. Job Hobbs was charged with cattle stealing from the Macumba run, and Mr. S. G. Kingston appeared for the prisoner. A nollo prosequi was entered.
