Both Houses of Parliament sat today, and concluded the work of the session, the result being that many measures were sacrificed. in the Legislative Assembly the Treasurer informed ';he House that the Government hnd communicated with the

Agent-GcnerJ*, asking whether he would represent .he State at the coronation: A Select Committee on the goldficlds water scheme v,'is appointed, and a Royal Commission is to conthi'iie the inquiry into 'he best manner of completing the work. The Governor attended at the Legislative Council Chamber in the afternoon and formally prorogued -the Parliament. The vice-Regal speech briefly referred to the work of the session, but practically lontained no new matter. ?The. The. Minister of Works stated to-day that Mr. Cous'.on, of Messrs. Couston, Finlayson and Porritt, was no longer in -.the' service of the department as supervisor of the work of caulking the pipes in connection with the goldfields water scheme:.- The Minister stated, however, that he could give no further information on the subject at the pre-' sent time.
