Port Fairy Gazette (Vic. : 1914 - 1918 ; 1946), Thursday 24 August 1916, page 2

Personal. The Mayor (Mr Jas. Goldie) .has received word that-his son, Private R. Goldie, is in the 35th General Hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound in the arm. He is making sure progress. Owing to the, sudden indisposition this week of the Rev Mr Pattinson, the rev gentleman is prevented from making a visitation of friends in the Rosebrook district. Dr Pern is giving the case the best attention, and it it is expected that Mr. Pattinson will be on active duty by Sunday. It is probable that Mr Pattinson will, next April, seek a change of ministry, as driving appears to aggravate his complaint. Two of Mr W. Clancy's sons, formerly of Port Fairy and Koroit, are at present engaged in the grocery business at South Melbourne, Sergeant Bob Young, a former teller in the local branch of the Bank of Australasia, has, we regret to state, been wounded in- France. He is suffering from wounds in the right leg. Mr James Harman, Byaduk, aged 85, died last week. He landed in Port Fairy in 1853 and resided here for a time. He was a local Methodist preacher. -
