CORONER'S INQUEST.

Dr. Roche, District Coroner, held an inquest on Friday, at the Mount Hope Station, on the body of a man named Frank, who was smothered by an embankment of earth falling on him on the pre-vious Monday. From the evidence of two witnesses, named Ries and Smith, it appeared that the deceased had been engaged working with them on the station, sinking a well, and on the day in question, while he was wheeling away some earth in a barrow, a slip of earth took place, and an immense quantity falling on him, completely buried him underneath. His mates seeing the accident, immediately ran to his assistance, and and as promptly as possible extricated him from underneath the mass. A stretcher being procured, he was conveyed to Ries's tent, where he died in about half an hour afterwards. The jury re-turned a verdict of "Accidental Death." The deceased was twenty-five years of age, a native of Dublin, and from the account given by his mate Smith, was a well-educated young man of good family.
