Forty-seven points of rain fell at Colac for the forty-eight hours end-ed 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Mr. Ralph, the Victorian Govern- ment Printer, who is on annual va-cation, paid a visit to Colac last week. Some years ago he took a prominent part in rowing and com-peted at the old Colac regattas. Mr. Thomas McCann, one of the oldest residents of the district, died yesterday at the advanced age of 90 years. He came from the North of Ireland and selected land at at Gerangamete in 1866, settling thereon in 1867. He resided there up till the time of his death. The funeral will leave his residence at 11 o'clock this (Monday) morning for the Colac cemetery.

Mrs W. S .Thomas, dentist, of Melbourne, may be consulted at the Victoria Hotel on Thursday next, the 12th inst., and at Terang on Wednesday, 11th inst. The public are notified by adver-tisement to-day of the fine selection of gifts and toys on display at Trot- ter's, Murray street, Colac. The stock is up-to-date. Street fire alarms connecting with the Fire Brigade Station, are to be installed in Colac almost immedi-ately, their matter being in the hands of the chief electrician of the Tele-phone Department. The Fire-Bri- gade intends erecting quarters for the station keeper, whose duty will be to attend to the alarms. Six alarms will also be connected with the residences of officers of the bri-gade. The proposed street alarms will be erccted at the followng cor-ners:-Rae and Queen streets (near railway crossing), Queen and Pol- lock streets, Pollock and Gellibrand streets, Murray and Corangamite streets, Gravesend street (near rail-way station), Rae and Forbes streets, and Skene and Grant streets.

The death of Mr Williaim Colyer occurred at "Yeo Banks" Yeo on Sunday. The will of David O'Sullivan; late of Cororooke, farmer, who died on 6th November last, has been lodged for probate.
