Markets, Tone AS.

In onr Fast week's report, we stated, that notwitfutand"« ing the appearance of a fall in the price of wheat in the Sydney market, that the effect upon the Van Diemen'» Land market was not such as would cause it to droop in a hurry. We gave this opinion, founded upon diligent inquiry at the time, and are fully borne out in our antic!. pation bj the result of the sales wbirh hare since taken pluce. Soroesmftfl parrels of wheat were sold at the lat-ter end of last week and thecommencement of the present, at 13s, but since Monday, the markst lias been gradual!; and steadily advancing up to the former quotation of lis and 16s, at which prices all on ittums hare been sent in this morning.

We find it more dlfncaTt to quote tire price of flour, inasmuch as the prices at some of the mills vary very ma. : tcrially. At Wnlker's mill, the price asked tor fine flour,

this morning, is 50s per cwt, or jCSO" pet ton ; at Salmon'» I store, £45 ; and nt Monnington"» »ill, the quotation is

40s per cwt. or £40 per ton.

The Fortitude, from London, arrived on Satimer last with 400 barrels of Sour, and was to be succeeded

by another vessel, either to launceston or Von. Pltiftip, with the same quantity ; but ojrfess these importations are followed up hy others, they will not materially affect our

colonial wheat market.

Barley, (English) 11s to 11s Gd; Cape, 7« to 61 per

bushel.

Oatt, 7s to 6s per bushel. Potatoes, £8 per ton.

Cabbages, Is 6d per dozen.

Turnips, 2s per dozen bunches.

Carrots, Is Gd per dozen bunches. Parsnips, 9s per cwt.

Hay, loose, £8 10» per ton. Straw, 60s per ton.

Beef, from Gd to lOd per lb.

Mutton, from öjd to OJd per lb, or by the carcase M, Firewood, from 12s to 16s per ton.

I Coals, (Port Arthur) 14s ; Sydney, 45s per ton.
