DEATH OF A PIONEER. FUNERAL YESTERDAY.

The death of Mr. Chas Samuel Brockman, which occurred at his home in Sandridge Park on Wednesday, has removed one of Bunbury's most respected and popular citizens.

Mr. Brockman had suffered from rheumatism, neuritis, and kidney trouble for some considerable time, but fought manfully against the disease until his eightieth year had passed. -The deceased ranked amongst the earliest pioneers of W.A., first taking up pastor alist land in the North many years ago. Ill-health compelled him to take a change of climate, and* he transferred his activities to the South-West, settling at Sandridge Park, where he remained for some years. He later went to Brooklands Estate, Balingup. Years afterwards he made his home in Toodyay for a brief period, but returned to Sandridge to reside permanently. Mr. Brockman leaves a widow and five children, three sons and two daughters. The two daughters are married and settled on the land, one residing at Peak Hill and the other at Port Hedland. A large number of relatives followed the remains fo their last resting place in the New Cemetery yesterday afternoon, the chief mourners being Mr. Maitland Brockman and Mr. Robert Brockman (sons). Amongst those present were Mr. Gee. E. Clarke (Mayor-elect), and Mi\ T. W. Paisley, J.P., representing the JBunbury Municipal Council; Mr, J. F. Johnston, J.P., representing the Bunbury Road Board; and

Mr. W. H. Kaeshagen, representing the Tr?i tiers' Association. The pall-bearers were Messrs. T. W. Paisley, S. H. Bath, J. F. Johnston, W. H. Kaeshagen, J. Hands, and Geo. Clarke. *** Wreaths were sent by the Mayor and Councillors, the Chairman and members of the Bunbury Road Board; Mrs. L. Illingworth, Mrs. Nenke, Dr. and Mrs. Flynn, Nora and Winnie, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. 'Fry, Mrs. Burgess, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Pi'i.sley and family,, Mr. and

Mrs. J Bunds and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Kaeshagen. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. W. Brittain and Son. ROAD BOAD SYMPATHY. At the monthly meeting of the Bunbury Road Board yesterday the Chairman proposed a vote of condolence to the family of the late Mr, C. S. Brockman, who was a former meiiiber of the Board. The motion was carried by all members upstanding in silence.
