ACTION AGAINST GOLDS

BROUGH, MORT, AND CO.

JUDGMENT FOR THE DEFEN-

DANTS.

LONDON, JUNE 20.

Judgment was given today in the Chancery Division of the High Court of Justice in an action brought by the North Australian Territory Company against Goldsbrough, Mort, and Co Limited

The action was dismissed with costs.

[Some five or six years ago a company was floated in London, under the style of the North Australian Territory Company, to acquire and work certain properties belong-ing to Mr C. B. Fisher in the Northern Territory. These properties were held as security by Messrs Goldsbrough, Mort, and Co for advances made to Mr C. B. Fisher. After some time the North Australian Territory Company was liquidated, and sub- sequently some members of it brought actions against a number of defendants, amongst whom were Goldsbrough, Mort, and Co. The object of the action against Golds- brough, Mort, and Co was to show that the company were partners in the transaction with Mr C. B. Fisher. The plaintiffs claimed certain damages, but the judgment of Mr. Justice Romer, who heard the case, goes to show that Goldsbrough, Mort and Co were not partners but simply agents.]

[Goldsbrough, Mort, and Company Limited yesterday received a cable message from their London office advising that judgment had been given in the case brought against them and others by the Northern Territory Com-pany Limited. The telegram says:- "Judg- ment has been given in the Northern Territory case in favour of Goldsbrough, Mort, and Company Limited, with costs.]
