ZOO UNPROFITABLE AT HOBART. Larger Animals to Go. HOBAIRT, Monday. -- For sonie tie the Hobart Zoo has been unprofitable to the City Council, and the number of large animals is likely to be reduced. This statement was contained in a report from the reserves committee to the Council at its meeting to-nighlt, when it was stated that the committee proposed o investigato a proposal for disposing of the large animals and retaining the zoo for birds and smaller animals. The maintenance of the zoo for tie 12 months ended June was £200 below the estimate, and in the estimate for the next financial year the item has been reduced further by £200.
