HE WORKED IN WEEKEND TO TRAVEL HOME ON MONDAY

An engineer who had worked all Sunday to complete a job for the State railways, which had kept him here for three weeks, was among the victims. He was Mr. E. Finnigan, diesel electric and electric trac tion expert of the English Electric Co., of Sydney.

He had come to Perth to complete the fitting and testing of the six "wildflower" class diesel electric rail coaches pur chased by the State railways. On Saturday, when the job was nearing completion, he decided to work right through the weekend to catch the plane last night. Mr. Finnigan, an Irishman, was a world authority on elec tric traction. Before the war he had worked in Poland equipping electric-powered units for the Government rail ways there. He had also done similar work in Malaya and other parts of the world. He was a Bachelor of Engineering of Dublin University. He came to Australia to equip diesel electric locomotives for the Broken Hill Proprietary, Australian Iron and Steel and the South Australian Railways. He leaves a widow and a small child in Sydney.
