EMPIRE GAMES PROGRAMME RELEASED

SYDNEY. Wednesday.

The chairman of the British Empire Games Council ? (Aid. E. S. Marks') released today the full programme and conditions of entry for the Games which will be held in Sydney from Februax-y 5 to February 12, 1938, in association with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Australia. The programme will be sent to Berlin for confirmation ctt the Empire Games conference in the first week in August during the . period of the Olvmnie Games.

Aid. Marks also announced that the State Government had nominated the Minister for Labor (Mr. Dunningham) as the Government representative on the organising committee, and Mr. A. II. Douglas, of the Treasury, as one of the honorary organisers.The The organising committee, in addition to Government representatives, will comprise Aid. Marks (chairman), Messrs. J. Taylor, H. R. Weir, F. G. Underwood, H. K. Maxwell and H G Alderson. It is anticipated that competitors will be present from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Bermuda, British Guiana, Trinidad, Hong Kong, Fiji, Jamaica, Rhodesia, and Newfoundland. Events will include athletics, swimming, cycling, boxing, wrestling, lawn tennis, bowling, and rowing.
