MUNDARING WEIR OVERFLOW

RAILWAY EXCURSIONS

Considerable satisfaction has been ex-pressed, by the Railway Department, at the patronage accorded the Sunday, excursions arranged to Mundaring Weir. On Sunday last what constitutes a record for the last four years was established, when 900 pas-sengers travelled to the weir to witness the inspiring sight of thousands of tons of water cascading over the wall of the weir. The record for the post-war years occur-

red in 1922, when 1,224 passengers travel-led, the best previous figure being 1,165 passengers in 1921. But on each of these occasions the records were established in September, and the department is optimis-tic that the record for 1922 will be eclipsed next month, when the weather conditions should be far more settled than they have been to date. The Commissioner of Railways an-nounces that an excursion train will run to Mundaring Weir on Sunday next, August 15. The recent heavy rains have made the weir a sight worth seeing and the countryside at present looks beautiful. The train will leave Perth at 10.45 a.m., and return ex weir at 4.0 p.m. as will be seen from railway advertisement in this issue.
