TOODYAY.

Constable W. A. Bass writes, March 30: — The season .under review has been unfavorable for crops throughout this district. The average wheat yield has been about seven , bushels. The cause is attributed to unseasonable rains, septoria, an*d red rust The season has been. hot. and dry towards the end, and in consequence the fruit crop has been below the average. Tho pastoral returns have been good

throughout the district, and progress in this direction is marked. Feed has been plentiful, but a shortage of water has hampered the settlers ' in some parts of the district The mortality amongst sheep has been low; the wool return has been good. Bush fires have been frequent but no very serious damage has been suffered.
