Carlin Safe Again

NEW YORK, Wed (AAP) : Amphibious jeep 'round-the-world' travellers Major Ben Carlin, of Perth, and his American wife are safe again.

Oil-tanker New Jersey picked them up in their strange craft 270 miles east-south-east of New York today. The jeep had broken down and the Cariins had been adrift for 10 days. The ship is now bound for Halifax (Nova Sco-tia) with the Cariins on board. • On August 9, two days after they left New York, the Carlins were sighted by a U.S. destroyer about 200 miles out. After this there were fears for their safety. It was their fourth attempt to go round the world.
