Miss Dorothy Barclay, B.A., B.S.C.', who is.on the staff of the Geelong Girls' School .as, senior, resident mathematical mistress, was a passenger on the transcontinental express to Perth to-day. She is spending the Christmas vacation with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. A. H. Barclay, at St. Leonard 's-avenue, Leederville. The late Mr. John Patrick M'Grath, who passed away yesterday at St. John of God Hospital, was well known in pastoral circles. In his early days he was as sociated with his father en the Peake station, now known as Wyloo. Later he launched out on his own acocunt, taking up, land on the Murchison, which became known as Kalli station, and was recently sold to Mr. John Forrest. ? Recently filling the position of Chief Auditor for Tasmania, Mr. E. L. Puddi'combe arrived in^ Perth from Hobart on Friday to take over ,the duties of Chief Commonwealth Auditor in this State. The position was rendered vacant' by the death of Mr. W. E. Kennedy, in July. Originally in the State Audit ' Department in Perth, Mr. Puddicombe took over duties in Adelaide, relieving the chief auditor there until 1922, when he went to Hobart.

Brigadier Winton, Of the Salvation Army.

Brigadier Winton, O.B.E., ' popularly known in strenuous war days as 'the Diggers' Padre of Codford,' returned by the R.M.S. Naldera yesterday after a special mission to India at the behest of General Booth. His wife and family disembarked at Fremantle, but - the Brigadier continued to Melbourne. He will return shortly to accept a post in *V.A. ' ,i
