Swan View Tunnel Crisis

Long-standing difference of opinion between the Railways Department and the Loco Engine Drivers' Union regarding the working of the Swan View tunnel reached a crisis today. Conference arranged by the

States Disputes Committee of the Australian Labour Party sat from noon to 2 p.m., resumed at 3 p.m. Rumours of a possible hold-up in rail services were referred to by the Daily News to the Railway Department, an official of which said: There will be no hold-up in rail services today.' When questioned as to the possibility of hold-ups shortly, he declined to say anything. Representatives of the State executive of the Australian Labour Party also declined to make any statement
