The dingo menace in Western Queensland shouffJ ease with the breaking oJ the drought,

Lands Department officials said.

Dingoes which had accumulated round the few remaining water holes as surface water dried up would probably scatter again, they said.

One ol the hardest hit sheep properties has been Carandotta station, 70 miles west of -Dajarra. In the last two years, 800 dingoes have been killed

there.

The manager (Mr. Ted Maule) thinks that when the water ~ holes in the Northern Territory dried up, the dingoes found their way across to the sheep country Carandotta, be

ins the 'furthest western sheep property suffered most.

la 95, Carandota lost SO per cent ,o£ its Iambs. About 400 traps were tlien laid, and the position improved last season with aBout G500 lambs were marked. Expected figure was 10,000.
