The benefit that was to be held on Saturday last had to he postponed

owing to the rain.

The' recent heavy rains have made a good deal of work In the district, most of the dams and the fences being carried away. It is difficult to secure men in the town to do the worlt. as most of them havfe already secured employment.

Mr. Sam Elmes, of Oxford Downs, has purchased 1.000 ewes from Anbiguy. and they were removed on Timrsd.iy by drover S. Brassington.

Gladys Vale is still shearing, and 1'Ievnsi Downs will commence as soon as Gladys Vale is finished.

It is reported that Mr. Herb Thomas is seriously ill in Brisbane. Mrs. Thomas; Soft on Thnrsday's mail for ilin metropolis.

Mr. \V. Glasson had a narrow escape when the car he was driving collided with a stump In the long grass. The car hit with snch force thai lie and Mrs. Glasson were hurled against the front of the car on to the windscreen. Mrs. Glasson was severely cut about the face and throat and had to be taken to the hospital, n'lirrn it was found necessary to insert several stitches. Mr. Glasson .?seaport with severe brnises. The windscreen of the car was badly

smashed.

Mr. T. Weller is cxpected to arrive back in town from his holidays on
