Turf Notes

Skipton, winner of the Vic torian Derby and Melbourne Cup in 1941, died from an un usual accident at ML P. W. Hughes' stud at Coleman last week. Normally an excitable horse, Skipton reared In his stall and fell heavily against the door entrance. Crashing to the ground he fractured his spine and several ribs. The force of the impact drove a rib through Skipton's Iungs.

Mr. stym Solomons, one of Sydney's best known turf Iden tities, died ^ in St. Vineeitf/s Hospital on Saturday.

The Auckland Cup of £10,000 run over two miles, was won by France's First, with Cora] Arc second, and Bruce third.
