DEATH OF MR. E. S. RYMILL

Speed-boat and Pigeon Shot Champion

By the death of Mr. Ernest Seymour Rymill at his residence, East Terrace, City, yesterday, after an illness of several weeks, Adelaide lost one of its best known business men and the State one of its finest sportsmen.

Mr. Rymill, who was the youngest son of tbe late Mr. Henry Rymill, was born at East terrace in 1876 and was educated at Queen's School and St. Peter's College. After leaving school he spent a number of years in his father's office. Among sportsmen he was known throughout the Commonwealth because of the remarkable success he and his brother, Mr. A.G. Rymill, achieved in the races for the Griffith Cup, the motor boat championship of Australia. Mr. Ernest Rymill's part in these con-tests was that of mechanic, his bro-ther being at the helm of the boat, and it was very largely due to the former's skill in tuning the engine and attending to it during the races that the brothers were so successful. As a pigeon shot, Mr. Rymill was in the front rank, and during a visit to Europe a few years ago he won an important international event at Monte Carlo, and was runner-up in two others. He also won a clay bird event in England the same year. The previous year he came second in the world championship shoot in Mel bourne, and with six others divided a stake of £5,000 at the same meeting.
