MELBA MEMORIAL CONCERT

National Relay Feature On Monday Night

Monday will be the anniversary of the birthday of the late Dame Nellie Melba. and at 7.45 p.m. the Sydney ' Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Professor Bernard Heinze. will play. All the assisting artists were associated with Melba during her life. They will ! include Stella Power, who is called ?The I Little Melba:' Ljridley Evans, who was

nieiDa s accompanist, ana una Bourne, who was solo pianist with Melba on many tours. John Lemmone, now aged 80, Melba 's former flautist, will be present. This unit will conclude with the unveiling of a memorial plaque presented by Lord Lurgan. The ceremony will be performed by the Governor of New South Wales (Lord Wakehurst). I At 7.30 pjn. today the Melbourne ' Orchestra and Wireless Chorus will pre- ; sent Mozart's opera. ''The Marriage of; Figaro.' in which Arnold Matters will take the part of Count Alma viva. The performance will be under the direction of Montague ] Brearley. At 9.15 p.m. on Friday a nautical yarn In song and verse. 'Let the: Navy Try.' will be presented by the [ Adelaide Orchestra and Male Chorus.; Drama week will be continued at 7 ? pjn. tomorrow, when Paul O'Loughlin1 will direct the production of 'Mr. Deeds j Goes to Town.'' which will feature i Peter Finch and Neva Carr-Glyn.
