DEATH OF MR. CECIL BRAY

Prominent Polo Player

Mr. Cecil Thomas Bray, of Robert: street, Glenelg, died at Calvary Hospital, yesterday, after a brief illness. Mr. Bray, who was 63, was bom at Hutt street, Adelaide, and tkis an elder son of the late Sir John and Lady Bray

Mr. Bray was a prominent polo player, a keen follower of the hounds, and often figured in the show ring aL ! Royal Shows. Only about ten days j ago he and his daughter. Miss Phyllis ! Bray, rode together at the Melbourne Show. Mr. Bray was the oldest active polo player in Australia, and had played for about 40 years. During the South Australian Polo Association's annual tournament in March, he played in the No. 1 team of the Adelaide Polo Club, of which he was a-member for many years. which included HJIJL the Duke of Gloucester, and played a game at Birkalla. He also represented the State. Until recently, Mr. Bray hunted with the Adelaide Hunt Club. He won the first Adelaide Hunt Club Bracelet in 1899. when he rode Wild Bird, and five years later he again won the bracelet. For many years Mr- Bray practised as a solicitor. He has left a widow, Mrs. Claire Eva Bray, and two daughters—Miss Phyllis Bray and Mrs. A. V. Stanley-Turner.
