Digby. FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT. A welcome social was tendered on Friday night last to Pte. B. McClintock in the Foresters' Hall, who has been in-valided home from service abroad. Mr G. T. Graham presided, and on behalf of all cordially welcomed the returned soldier back from the scenes of conflict, though regretting the loss of his eye. Rev. T. P. Schussler, Mr R. Dunstan. Messrs W.. Shaw, G. Shaw and A. C. Ross also spoke in similar strain, eulog-ising his sacrifice in the cause of freedom. Rev. Mr Schussler, on behalf of the Presbyterian congregation, presented the guest with a fountain pen. Musical numbers were rendered by Mrs G. Graham, Mr Mills, Misses Murrell, M. McIntosh, M. McLean, Messrs Brock and Rundell. Refreshments were then partaken of, and a sooial time spent. Dancing closed the meeting, the National Anthem being sung at opening and closing of the proceedings. At the Anglican Church on Sunday, July 21st, special appeal was made on behalf of the French Red Cross fund. The Rev. J. A. Macqueen officiated, and gave an earnest address, to a large con-gregation, preaching from Psalm xxxiii., 12. After the sermon the National Anthem for King and our brave soldiers was heartily sung. Appropriate hymns were also sung during the service. The sum of £3/10 was then collected for the Red Cross Fund, besides the usual offer-tory for the day.
