THE NEW FOOTSCRAY RAILWAY ~STATION. THE NEW FOOT$CRAY RAILWAY STATION.

THE Railway Department has accepted the tender of R. Vickers, of South Melbourne, for the erection of the new station buildings at Footscray, the price being £2324 12 9. It, will be remembered that when tenders were called in the first instance, Cr. F. E Shillabeer, of Buckley street, Footscray, was the lowest tenderer, but his price was above the department's estimate, thus fresh tenders were called and Mr Vickers, who did not tender in the first instance, beat Cr Shillabeer by about £30. Above we present a picture of the proposed new station, as it will appear when completed, and doubtless the internal and external conveniences, which were detailed in a previous issue, will be found sufficient for the requirements of the travelling public. The sum of £6500 has been provided for platforms and buildings, but it is doubtful whether the outer platform buildings are provided for in the present contract.
