'A PONY'S ESCAPADE. Some excitement was caused in Firebrace-street on Saturday nighty by the behaviour of a pony attached to a gig, in which were seated Mrs. Thomas Blight, wife of Mr. Blight, orchardist, and her daughter. As they wereo driving up Firebrace-street in the vicinity of the Post Office the pony became sulky and commenced to kick. After several threatening kicks at the front of the trap, the pony took an erratic course, and ran into a tree-guard r near tihe corner of Baillie-street. It then managed to wriggle from under the shafts and facvl the occupants of the gig. As it did so the shafts went up into the air, and the tail of the cart settled quietly down on the roadway, and the occupants senamllul out. Thou4lh cornsiderably alarmed, Mrs. and ,?iss Blight were uninjured, andl some volunteers who went to their assistance helped to straighten matters for them. In another column Mr. Blight returns thanks to those who went to the assistance of his wife and daughter.
