CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS TREAT. From a small beginning a few years ago the Christmas treat to children in May Park has grown to large proportions and is now regarded as a fixture for the festive season. The event is eagerly looked forward to, for the programme provides variety in games ana sports, with seasonable refreshments. A meeting of the committee was held in the Memorial Hall on Tuesday evening to make arrangements for this Christmas. Mr. A. Hill presided. The financial statement showed there was a balance of £13 in hand. It was decided to hold a gathering as usual this Christmas, and ai large committee, with Mr. 8. May as president and Mr. Pallet as secretary, was appointed to carry out the arrangements. For their services in the past Messrs A. Hill. A. Knipe and W. Dorman were thanked. Application is to be made to the Borough Council for four loads of sand. to make a sand tray for the small children. 4uthorised collectors' lists are to be issued, and ai meeting of the committee will be held on Saturday week to receive reports.
