Complaints have been frequent in Hamilton during the past week of the crazy behaviour of an individual who has been acting the 'ghost' and scaring women and children. Specific cases have been brought under notice also in which this nocturnal nuisance has sud-denly jumped from the shadows in out- lying portions of the town in front of young men. One of the latter was quietly pedalling home on his bicycle when an apparition - described as over six feet in height - crossed his path. The cyclist, in his surprise, was brought to the ground, and was temporarily stunned by his fall. On another occa- sion a party of girls returning from a dance was confronted by an elongated "ghost," which decamped when a se- ries of concerted shrieks rent the frosty air. The police will probably find plenty of willing assistants in the search for the idiotic masquerader.
