fl plea fails in the West, and

HAWKS WONT

GET STAR FROM WA

From PERCY TAYLOR

PERTH, Wednesday: A strong plea by

Hawthorn secretary Bill Newton today ¡

failed to secure a clearance for star rover. Cyril Collard.

Newton told Subiaco Club "that Collard was

well established in a job in Melbourne and had ¡ a good chance of promotion. .

But Subiaco stood firm " and without .giving a reason decided against Hawthorn.

East Perth is just as definite in its decision to keep "Polly" Farmer, star, ruckman sought by Richmond.

Refused

Even if the two clubs had agreed to clear the players it is almost certain the W.A. League would have refused to allow the transfer.

Feeling in Perth is hardening against allowing any player to go to Victoria.

Several good players have approached Victorian officials wanting to come to Victoria, but it all seems à waste of time.

At the same time, tentative feelers have been made to several Victorians, but they have not reached the definite stage.
