A T a Meeting of the Shareholders of the
Royal Mi"«ing Company, called by public advertisement, adjourned from iVednesday the 10th November instant to Friday the 12th No- vember, and held tn the Company's Offices, Hindley-street,
The Hon. Capt. Bagot, M.L.C., in the Chair,
' the Directors laid upon the table the following ! report, which was received aud unanimously 1 adopted :
J FIRST ANNUAL REPOKT OF THF. DIRECTORS OF j THE ROYAL MÍXING COMPANY.
The Directors'of the Royal Mining Company have to report that in the expectation of thf lands in the vicinity of tbs Company's sections being brought forward for sale by the Govern- ment, they have not deemed it expedient to authorise any considerable outlay in the explo- ration of the sections already purchased.
It was thought advisable, however, to exa- mine a portion of these sections more imme- diately adjoining the North Kapunda; anda small sum was expended, under the direction of Captain Rodda, in costeaning and sinking a shaft thereon. Although the result ot' these operations has not been the discovery of mineral.yetthe appearanceof theground proving in many places similar to that oí thij Kapunda, in which coppsr ores have been found, the Directors are not without hops that if more extended examination be recommended, valu- able discoveries may be made.
Three of your Directors - Captain Bagot, and Messrs Peacock and Waterhouse-have visited the Company's property; and believing that Captain K-j-i.la, to whose superintendence the first workings were confided, is ful'y engaged elsewhere, they haverecommended to the Board that Captain Richards be employed to conduct any further operations. This recommendation your Directors have adopted.
Your Directors' have had before them the draft Deed of Settlement, as prepared by the Company's -olicitors. Its final consideration has been postponed, chiefly beciuse of the un- settled state of tha question regarding Royal- ties; and the Directors do not consider it ex- pedient to proceed further with it until the deposit receipts shall have been exchanged for scrip certificates; an I, with a view to further purchases, another call may become nee *ssary.
Tae Directors beg leave to submit the ba- lance sheet, which shows the amount in hand to be £1,119 15s. 8d.
Tils Directors retiring hy rotation are Messrs Bagot, Younghusband, C. Beck, Smith, and Ellis. They are, however, eligible îor re-
election-, j
