Vicar of Newport Dead. The Rev. George A. M. Cerutty, vicar of Christ Church, Mason-st., Newport, and well known in many other Anglican parishes of the State, died on Tuesday morning after an illness of five days. The son of a former Customs Official, he was born in Williamstown 67 years ago. Ordained in Melbourne, he was at one time warden of the old clergy house at Fern Tree Gully, then the quarters from which the whole of the Dandenong Range was worked. Mr. Cerutty had served as vicar at Warburton, Preston, Bacchus Marsh, Croydon, St. Albans and Werribie. He leaves a wife and a daughter, Dorothea, who is well known in educational circles. The funeral took place yesterday (Thursday) morning, leaving Christ Church, Newport, after the service conducted by the Archbishop of Melbourne (Most Rev. J. Booth), assisted by the Rev. G. Thomas and other clergy. The remains were cremated at the Melbourne crema-torium, Fawkner, the Rev. Mr. Thomas officiating there. A very large number of floral tributes was received. By Mr. Cerutty's personal wish the Church in the death of Mr. and scattered to wind and wave. Mr. Ernest W. Jackson, of Wil liamstown, was entrusted with the obsequial arrangements.
