Mornington and Dromana Standard (Vic. : 1908 - 1911), Saturday 15 August 1908, page 3

Cheering Appreciation. During the past fortnight the follow-ing gratifying letters have reached us, and though we do not know our correspondents personally we thank them most heartily for their kindly words and encouraging opinions. They will stimulate us to greater endeavours, and we hope that as time advances there may be no falling off in the reasons which have inspired such testimonies to the growing popularity and worth of The Standard, as the local paper of the Peninsula. The publication of two editions for Frank-ston and Mornington districts, we are glad to know appears to have given universal satisfaction :— Wandin, 30-7-'08. To the Proprietor FRANKSTON AND SOMERVILLE STANDARD. Dear Sir,—Just a few lines to com-pliment you on the improved newsy condition of your paper, and also to wish the old organ under the new title every success. I've always thought the old title somewhat inappropriate, though possibly I had something to do with giving it that name, being amongst the first shareholders in the ill-fated M. S. Company. We have the paper sent along to us here, and look forward to its coming with interest. I may state that I have a copy of the first issue of THE STANDARD. I ex-pect they are now getting scarce. I am, Yours sincerely, H. G. O.
