SUPPOSED

SHIPWRECK

SYDNEY.—A medicine bottle containing a note from three survivors of a supposed shipwreck was found at Bonville Beach, near Sawtell, yesterday.

The note stated that the crew of a sloop named Ag-usta had been wrecked on a small atoll in longitude 121 east, latitude 42 south.

The note, dated January 17, 1951, was signed by Fran-cis Javin, captain; Jerry Javin. and Frank Irvine Standing.

It stated that the sloop left Tal Tal. South Africa, on January 10, 1951. The bottle was found by Ernest Brown, of Hawkesbury Road, Westmead, a visitor to Saw-tell. It has been sent to the C.I.B. for inquiries.

The longitude and latitude given in the note place the alleged atoll due south of Albany, West Australia, where there are no atolls or islands.
