TILDEN DEFEATS COCHET Reproduces His Old Form.

PARIS, Monday. - America defeated France, il-1, in the international tennis matches. ïo-day's results were:

Harnes d. Plaa, 2-0, 0-4, 6-3, 6-1. Tilden d. Cochet, 6-3, 0-4, 0-2. Tilden and Marnes d. Cochet and Plaa, 6-2, 4-6, G-1, G-^i.

Despite the fact that he was aged forty, against Cochet's 32, Tilden reproduced his old form. He completely outplayed and outlasted the Frenchman, who failed to stand the strain of the terrifically-fast first set. He double-faulted in tho eighth game, giving Tilden a 5-3 lead, the American clinching thc set with cannon balls.

Cochet started vigorously in the second sot, and led 3-2, when he became unable to cope with the increased speed of Tilden'» returns, and collapsed before thc cannon balls which the American reserved for vital moments. Tilden in tho third set had Cochet racing to tho baseline retrieving stinging drives until he was disheartened.

Tilden won a wager of £00 from Cochet and Plaa on tho contest.
