OBITUARY.

MR. WALTER WREN. London. August 8.

The death is announced of Mr. Walter Wren, M.A., the well-known private tutor. [This famous 'crammer,' a product of the competitive examination system, was educated at Elizabeth College, Guernsey. and Christ's College, Cambridge.

He was. the founder and principal of Messrs. Wren and Gurney's establishment for the preparation of candidates for all competitive examinations. His success was undoubted. The army, the Indian Civil, and the Home Civil Services are filled with those who were 'finished' at his establishment. In 1880 he sat in the House of Commons for Wallingford, and he was elected to the first London County Council by a constituency which never saw him — for "distinguished services."]
