LOCAL LAND COMMISSION. A local land board sat in the Courthouse, Benalla, on Wednesday, to hear applications under the 19th section of the Land Act 1869. The board consisted of Mr. Nixon, the District Surveyor, and Mr. Sharpe, the President of Benalla Shire. Particulars are as foolow:-PARISH OF DOOKIE. Bernard Doyle, 160a; recominended. James Bergin applied for Gavin Gibeon's lioenee in' the parish of Dooki h to be forfeited: On' inquiry the evidence seemed to favour thoet'umptlion that ,Gibson had thrown up his land, and the boanrdrecommended it be forfeited. The land applied for was adppoaed to be a water reserve, and it was eventually decided to recommend applicant for about 10 chains from the south-east corner of Jane Skilling's land, leaving sutlicient space for access to the water tank. This wns part of the township. of Stewarton, in which only one allotment had been sold, and considering the township a failure, the board recommended that it be cancelled and the land given to applicant. SAMARIA. William Clarke, 40a. Applicant was a shepherd on the Warrenaynoe station, and Mhr Ross (represented by Mr Pow) opposed the application, as the ground was exempted from selection. Applicant asserted that the improvements (a hut and fencing) were only worth £10, but finally asked for 40a outside the exemption, and requested that the improvements be valued by arbitration.
