Newcastle, Tuesday, 3.30 p.m.

Mr. James Drummond, our respected M.L.C., died at his residence, Haw-thornden, Toodyay, 10 minutes before noon, Saturday, 8th instant. The funeral service was performed by the Rev. J. M. Innes on Sunday, previous to which a very short but impressive service was held. His funeral was attended by a large number of the deceased's relatives and friends ; all appeared to feel his loss deeply. Yes-terday we had a steady fall of rain for several hours; quite a winter day. To-day thermometer 82; in the sun. 122. Sickness prevalent. Wind from S. E.
