WORLD OF FASHION.. Summer fashions have often been "likened to a flowergarden in fall bloom," but this season it must be a gorgeous horticultural show, with every known flower and some impossible ones to make the comparison perfect The dress materials are so beautiful and varied in colour, s gauzy in texture and grceful in design, that it is possible to gratify the, most fastidious taste ; and the ribbons and laces which are used in such profusion add greatly to the flower-like effect. A quaint and timple dress is made of art muslin, with a rufa of the same around the theskirt; afall waist, witha broad ealof green surah silk, carelessly tied. The sleeves are full ta the elbow, and have a close-fitting gauntlet cuff. The fichu is made of lmdia mull, with a frill on the edge.-A pretty hatto complete this costame is oflight-coloured chip, trimmed with ostrich feathers in art colours. An effective afternoon costume for a summer watering place is of peach blossom striped silk. The skirt is trimmed at the bottom with a narrow bias-cut twist of the silk, with black relvet bows at intervals. The back of the waist is of silk and the front and sides of lace, with .bands of relvet; a velvet rosette covers the gathers where the lace is drawn together on the chest. Silk sleeres are cut on the bias, witha lace flounce round the arm-hole and falling under the arm. The hat is lace, with plumes falling-from the brim and trimming of loops of black relvet and moiri ribbon. A less expensive and very fresh-looking little gown is of pale biscuit-coloured crspon, trimmed with closely plaited roches of cream satin ribbon. The skirtis bordered with two narrow floances of crpon headed by a cream satin ribbon rache. Pieces of the same ruching trimming on either side of the front form the waist to thehem. Thebodicehas a fallchemisette and a deep shoulder cape of lace, finished at the bottom with a band of cream ribbon and a rosette bow.
