New Church at Wallerawang

A VERY handsome new church was opened at Wallera-wang. It has been erected at the sole expense of Mrs. Barton, is intended for the joint use of the Church of England and of the Presbyterian Church, and has been built according to plans furnished by Messrs. Blacket and Sons, Sydney It is in the English decorated style, and measures 96 feet externally, and accommodates 200 persons. Though small, it is divided into a nave 53 x 24 feet, and chancel 20 x 18, with the choir placed in it. On one side is an organ chamber, and on the other a vestry, forming the cross. There is a massive tower 50 feet high with a bell, and under-neath it the porch in front of the church. The build-ing is of excellent stone found in the district, with tracery and dressings of stone from Mount Victoria. The internal arrangements are exquisite, and show that no expense has been spared, to enable the skill of the architects to make it both a suitable as well as an attractive edifice. The handsome stone pulpit with brass bookstand, the iron lectern, iron communion rails, the fine colouring of the windows, the open roof and seats of Kauri pine richly carved, the stone font on clustered columns with carved capitals, the rich tiling both of nave and chancel floor-all taken together, with the admirable arrangements for lamps near the roof, show a finish not often found in country churches.
