BOTANICAL GARDENS. Sir,-I beg to direct the attention of the Committee of the Botanical Gardens to the fact, that horses have been paddocked in the gardens for the last fortnight, being introduced in the evenings and withdrawn early every morning; thus endangering the flower-beds, shrubs, and walks, there being no fence to keep them from the cultivated ground. This morning there was a large grey horse branded OR near shoulder, and a young bay mare, within the enclosure. I trust the Committee will see to the matter, and not allow parties to have their horses paddocked in a public garden, while the great unwashed are warned at the gate, Dogs not Admitted. Yours truly, DELTA. Portland, 30th April, 1859.
