SKIPTON'S WAR LOAN EFFORT. Mrs. J. J. Kitson, of the Grand Central, Hamilton, had the assistance of her brilliant chestnut, Skipton, in giving the fourth Liberty Loan a splendid boost (says the "Spectator.") The Caulfield Cup was worth about £3,000, and when Skipton flashed past the post on Saturday ::length and a half ahead of his nearest rival, he placed over £3,000 in the war loan just as surely as if he had galloped to the nearest bank. After deducting the jockey's winning fee, the remainder was earrilarked for the loan. Mrs. Kitson's gesture is a fine example to other' sportsmen and sporting bodies. The loan hlir also benefited by the succes- of a local punter. a Hamilton huriness man, whose winnings on Skinton's success, totalling about (£1,000. have been placed in the loan.
