of Arthur Ornton Tichborne,''-was bound over on her own recognizances in £200, and- two sureties . each of ?? £100, - to' be' of good: behaviour for 12. months. The. sum-' mons alleged that defendant -published a defamatory libel concerning Sir Joseph Tichborne. The prosecuting counsel' stated that defendant, had pestered Sir Joseph with letters containing allegations against him, libelling him, threatening assault, and demanding money as the price of silence. Defendant declared that she was the daughter of Sir Arthur 'Tichborne, and denied that she had demanded money. Reuter. A cablegram on October 28 announced that' Miss Theresa Tichborne had been sentenced to imprisonment for a year for threatening letters to Sir

George Lewis, solicitor for the Tichborne family. It was stated that she had endeavoured to extort money 'from the Tichborne family' by threats to kill them.
