Obituary. OLD COLONISTS. The death of Mrs Finnigan, re-lict of the late Mr John Finnigan, which occurred at her residence, Gawler street, on Saturday, severs yet another link from the chain of early Victorian pioneers. The late Mrs Finnigan, who was born in 1839, being, therefore, 82 years of age at the time of death, arrived in Portland by the "Eliza" in 1852. Her late husband, who carried on business as a saddler, left Portland for Harrow in 1882, retiring in 1910, when he returned to this town. Deceased's family com-prised four sons and a daughter, all of whom were born in Portland. The surviving members are Mr John Finnigan, of "Woodlands," Edenhope; Mr Henry Finnigan. photographer, of Mildura; and Mrs Mabbit, of Williamstown. The late Mr John Finnigan predeceased his wife in February of last year. The funeral of the deceased lady took place this afternoon, Mr W. Jarrett having charge of the mor-tuary arrangements. A very old colonist, in the person of Mr Matthew Daly, passed away at his residence, Milton-street, Hamilton, on Tuesday morning, in his eighty-first year. The late Mr Daly was born in the town of Ter. rymacross, County Monaghan, Ire. land, and landed at Portland from the ship Althona in 1852, being then about 12 years of age. After a brief stay in Portland, the family removed to Port Fairy, where the deceased resided for about twenty years.
