South Australian Company

Mr. Arthur L. A. Muller, of Glenelg, who for some years has been secretary and accountant to the South Australian Com-pany in Adelaide, will succeed Mr. H. P. Moore as colonial manager of the com-pany. He has also been appointed a mem-

ber of the local board. Mr. Muller is the only son of the late Mr. J. A. Muller. Born at North Ade-laide, he was educated at the South Aus-tralian Commercial College, Norwood. His boyhood was spent at Kensington. Possessing a wide knowledge of finance and company work, Mr Muller is emi-nently fitted to fill the position to which he has been appointed. The South Australian Company, since its incorporation 93 years ago, has had seven managers. Mr. Samuel Stephens was the first. Appointed in 1836. he held office for a brief period, and was followed by Mr. David McLaren (1837-44), William Giles (1844-60), William John Brind (1860-94). Henry Yorke Sparks (1894-1900). Henry Percival Moore (1901-29). Mr E. N Harding, who will succeed Mr. Muller as secretary and accountant, is a son of Mr C. J. S. Harding, formerly of the South Australian Railways. He started business life with the South Aus-tralian Company, and has been on the staff ever since.
