Altogether, the afternoon proved to be a highly successful one, which resulted in the suggestion by many present, that the social committee should consider the possibility of similar entertainments being held at more frequent and regular inter-vals. Presence of so many Australian musicians in London has not gone unnoticed by Princess Elizabeth. When Her Royal Highness at-tended a concert at the Royal College of Music, she learned that three of the five soloists were Australians. The Australian solo-ists were Mr. E. Riley, of Sydney ; John Probyn, of Sydney ; Miss Elsie Morison, of Melbourne. Asked by the Princess why there were so many Australian artists in London, Mr. Riley replied : "We have to reach the top in Australia before we come to London, so a start." The Princess presented Mr. Denis Vaughan, of Mel-bourne, with the Tagore Gold Medal for general achievement during the year.
