GEOFF BROWN IN COMEBACK

Sydney, Sat: Geoff Brown's comeback to big tennis and possible Inclu-sion In the Davis Cup squad advanced another notch today when he de-feated Lewis Hoad 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the final of the metropolitan singles cham-pionship.

Hoad, one of Australia's sensational 18-y-o hopes, was unable to match Brown's highpowered ser-vice in the first set. He showed something like his best form in the second, only to go down when Brown broke through his service in the 8th game of the final set.

It was mainly a game of power services with . both trying to get to the net when they could.

Brown, former Davis Cupper and Wimbledon finalist, appears finally to have conquered the illhealth which dogged him for the past 2 years.

In the doubles final to-day, Brown and Adrian Quist defeated Mervyn Rose and Don Candy 6/3 6/0. _
