Poll Shorthorns — :o: — Further news is recently to hand concerning Poll Shorthorns in Western Australia. Writing 011 behalf of Melara Ltd.. oLMingehew,, ' West Australia, Mr. C. C. Readhead advises that they have now added the bull 'Munduney Emblem' to the Melara Stud, and are confident of getting very good results from htm there. The bull Melara Royal Rebel 2nd (P) has been sold to the North Kimberley district, having been purchased by Messrs. E. J. and N. S. Lilley. of Turkey Creek. Other Kimberley buyers were * Messrs. Emanuel Bros., of 'Gogo' who purchased the bulls Melara Formidable 6th (P) and Melara Royal Rebel 4th (P). They have also sold a herd bull to the De Grey River Pastoral Co., 6f Port Hedland; a herd bull to T. Bailey, of Beverley, and four stud bulls to Yarrabubba, Wiluna, West Australia. An indication of the adaptability of the Poll Shorthorns is shown by the fact that in West Australia Messrs. Melara Ltd., have sold bulls to places all over the State from the North Kimberleys . to the .South West, some two thousand miles distant. The strong demand for Poll Shorthorn herd bulls which all breeders are experiencing is shown by sales of herd bulls recently made by the Gundibri Estate Co., Merriwa, N.S.W., to a number of buyers including the Arrabury Pastoral Co., of Eromanga, Q'ld., Messrs. J. and R. K. Milson Ltd., 'Springvale' Winton, Q'ld., to 'Granada' and 'Kamilaoi' Stations, Cloncurry, Q'ld., to Nombi Pty. Ltd., Mullaley, N.S.W.. and to Mr. P.. Play fair. Cassilis, N.S.W. It is one of the strangest laws of our nature that many things which we are well satisfied with in ourselves disgust us when seen in others. — William James.
