HE'S WOE "BARON OF BEEFCAKE"

LONDON, Sat: Toosle-haired, loose-limbed Rode Hudson*. called?-."the baron of beef-

cake,*' is now visiting Britain on his way to Ireland to make the Technicolor adventure "Captain Lightfoot."

He carries a prize ex-ample of his thousands of daily fan letters around with him, says it comes from Australia; but, being a gent, he can't reveal the lady's name.

Letter reads, in part:

i "Come, take me away where our eager lips can meet in silent vows of eter-nal love."

"I want to feel your arm caressing me tenderly."

"I never knew that lone-liness could be so hard on me."

"The emptiness I feel in my heart is unbearable."

OOKTNG flt and sun-

burnt, Dennis Price has

*

begun his comeback, with Olivia de Havilland in "That Lady."

Producer Sy Bartlett told me: "Price is a good actor, and the man I want for the part."

Added Price to me: "I play a court villain, who arranges all the murders. You want any dirty work done-I'll fix it."

wright Hugh Hastings,

(Seagulls over Sorrento)' performs in the Irving Theatre's lastest intimate revue, as compere comic.

A fellow - Australian, Trafford Whitelock, de-vised and produced the

show.

! Don't run away with the

impression that Hastings took his job because he is

broke.

He made some £50,000 sterling from "Seagulls."

He has not only the pro-ceeds from the London run of nearly three years, but

also a handsome rake-off from the film of [ the play, and also a constant reven

pe .from the performing rights of- what looks'-like becoming,, an amateur .Dramatic Society stand-by.

Hastings has always been an actor and fulfilled one ambition in the Irving re-vue, a satire on television called "Let's Look In."

Australian ballerina Lynn Golding is also in the show. ,
