BEAUMONT SMITH'S ENTERPRISES.

.Mr.. Beaumont Smith, who has been in Adelaide for the past two days on bud-' ness connected with his various theatrical enterprises, returned to Melbourne an ! Saturday. This year he will be controlling several important attractions secured by him recently during his tour of Europe , and America. Two companies — one ? comedy, the other dramatic — are now being organised by his partner, Mr. Louis Meyer, of the Strand and Garrick Theatres, London. The repertoire of the company wiil be 'The Glad JSye,' 'The 'Real Thing,'* 'The Chsaierw,' and 'Who's the LjMJy?'J ! The caste will include Mr. Frank Bradley, ' formerly of Adelaide, who had achieved ' great success in England; and also, prob- : ably, Miss Ethel Dane (better blown as : Miss Ethel Spiller), who is also Adelaide born. The repertoire of (he dramatic company will include 'The Barrier' (by Rex Beach), and ''Mr. Wn,' a. remarkable Chinese, drama, that is 'at present the greatest success on the London stage. ' - Mr. Beaumont Smith has taken an extended lease of the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, by arrangement with George Wil- i loaghby, limited, commencing juigust 22; j also of theAdelphi and Palace Theatres, ? Sydney. According to present bookings i the-pwo companies will not be seen at the ' Adelaide- Theatre Royal until late in the ' year. However, Mr. Smith is endeavouring ' to arrange with J. C. Williamson, Limited, ' for earlier dates. j The pictorial representation of Professor'! Max Reihhardt's great, spectacle, 'The : Miracle,' has Jately been shown in Sydney j with enormous success. Choruses of 80 1 voices took part m it, and Mr. Beaumont i Smitn will present it (in conjunction with West's Pictures) in a few week's time.
