(iALLIPOLI DAY TO-DAY. To-day is Unley's gala day, and it is confidently anticipated that, given fine weather, it will be by far the largest ^ event of its kind yet held in the Unfey djstoct. The proceeskm. winch will assemble at 1.45 p.m. at the corner of Park, terrace and Unley road, will comprise Mounted Ladies Troop, A.I.F., 11th Field Ambulance Corps Miss Smart's mounted troop, Norwood Cy-cling Club, fire brigade dispby. decorated motor care, and numerous tableau* by the All-British League, friendly «xaetua, and others. The procession mil be headed by the band of the 74tli Infantry Battalion, and at intervals will be the Foresters, the Citadel, Unley Salvation Army, and Scottish PiTiere' bands, nad several school bands. Lady Galway will arrive at tne Unky Oval at 3 p.m., and will be met by a guard of ionour. An interesting programme of 16 events has been arranged for the afternoon; and for the continental a. stage has been . erected in front of. the pavilion. At a meeting of Our Defenders' Friendship Association at the aasociation's headquarters, Hawthorn, on Wednesday evening, Mr.« W. Dixon Thompson (Secretary o! the 'Association) tendered liis resignation. He has enlisted. Mr. Cole, M.P. (President) referred to the services of Mr. Thompson, who had not spared himeelf any effort in his desire to further the work .of the association. They had been busily cn«afred during the past 12 months in writing personal letters to soldiers and forwarding parcels containine chocolates, QiristmiL-i puddings, cigarettes, newspapers, magazines, eocks, and other articles, in addition to a large number of sandbags.' Mr. Thompson's family had a unique record, in that it had sent 43 representatives to tie firing line, one of whom (Mr. Thompson's brother) had made the supreme sacrifice. Mr. Thompson was the forty-ninth represeattative. The resignation, was received with great regret. Mr. Thompson is a young married man with a family, and has been empioyed in the Railway Department. Mr. Thomas Goode, of Westall street, Hyde Park, will to-day celebrate the eighty-first anniversary of his' birth. He is a native of Kyre Magna, Worcestershire, and he came to South Australia in the ship Hope in 1858. He has been connected with the pastoral industry for many years. Included in the family of 11 sons and daughters are 'the' CommisBioner ol Crown Lands (Hon. C. Goode) and the wife of the Premier -(Hon. C Vaughan). Probate of the -witt of the late Mrs. Mary Alice Green, of Port Pirie West, who died on March 9 last, is being applied for by Elder's Trustee and Executor Company, Limited, the executor. The estate, which eonsbts of real and personal property, is sworn oot to exneed £S0O gross, and is bequeathed to the testatrix's husband and children. The same company is applying for probate of the will of the late Mrs. Johanna Julia Coulthard. of Nurioptpa, who died on March 24 laet.
